Romanian police crackdown on traffic violations in Argeș and Brașov

On 13 June, police from the Rural Police Station Lunca Corbului in Argeș conducted checks on cyclists to enforce road‑safety rules. They identified three cyclists under the influence of alcohol, recording breath‑alcohol levels of 0.27 mg/l, 0.44 mg/l and 0.92 mg/l, and imposed contraventional fines in accordance with OUG 195/2002.

The following evening, 14 June, officers of the Săcele municipal police carried out a night‑time operation in the Gârcini and Electro‑Precizia districts of Brașov County. About 50 people and 40 vehicles were inspected, more than 30 breath‑alcohol tests were performed, and 30 traffic‑related fines were issued, totalling over 20 000 lei. Two driving licences were seized for speeding violations. The actions aim to prevent antisocial behaviour and improve road safety across the regions.
