Romanian police crackdown on traffic violations in Botoșani and Alba Iulia

Local police in the Romanian city of Botoșani carried out traffic‑control operations on 17‑18 June 2026. Officers issued 40 contravention fines totaling 2,825 lei, blocked the wheels of 22 vehicles and had two cars towed. Drivers also received 52 penalty points for illegal stopping, parking in prohibited zones, unpaid paid‑parking spaces and other violations across several streets.

In the city of Alba Iulia, the local police have added a new electric patrol vehicle equipped with a radar system that automatically identifies motorists who have not paid for on‑street parking. The device will be used by the municipal parking control authority to enforce payment of public and residential parking fees.
