Romanian police detain suspects in drug trafficking and drunk‑driving cases

In Constanța County, a 25‑year‑old man with a suspended licence crashed his car into road‑work barricades on the A4 near Ovidiu on 20 May. He refused an on‑site breath test, was taken to hospital for a blood sample and recorded a blood‑alcohol level of 2.09 g/L. He was detained for 24 hours and presented to the Constanța prosecutor’s office for further action.

In Bacău County, three men aged 29 to 40 were placed in preventive detention for 24 hours on suspicion of international drug trafficking. Investigators from DIICOT determined that the suspects imported cannabis, THC‑infused gummies and biscuits from Slovakia in four parcels during May 2026. Raids recovered about 360 g of cannabis, 170 g of THC gummies, 200 g of THC biscuits, roughly 100 benzodiazepine tablets, precision scales, grinders, money and related equipment. The court authorized the preventive arrests on 22 May.
