Romanian police impose fines and seize vehicles in Constanța and Argeș

Local police in Constanța and the nearby resort of Mamaia carried out operations on July 24‑25 to curb illegal street vending. Officers stopped a seller using a Bulgarian‑registered Mercedes Sprinter to trade melons, peppers and tomatoes and fined the individual 2,500 lei, then confiscated the vehicle. Similar actions seized a car used by a woman selling fruit in the Poarta 6 district and another vehicle from a corn seller near Hotel Ovidiu, each with a 2,500 lei fine.

In Argeș County, traffic police conducted 131 road‑side checks, administering 404 alcohol and drug tests. The checks resulted in 375 contraventional fines worth more than 130,000 lei, the seizure of 22 driving licences and the withdrawal of 18 vehicle registrations. Eighty‑four fines were issued for excessive speed, seven of which led to licence suspensions for drivers exceeding the limit by over 50 km/h.
