Romanian police detain men for breaching protective orders in Vrancea, Argeș and Arad

Between 17 and 20 July, the Vrancea County Police issued provisional protective orders to victims of domestic violence, authorising measures such as temporary eviction of the aggressor, distance requirements and bans on contact. On 19 July a 50‑year‑old man from Garoafa was detained for 24 hours after failing to comply with the order.

In Pitești, a 51‑year‑old man was arrested on 20 July for repeatedly contacting his 25‑year‑old ex‑partner and allegedly striking her with his foot on 11 July, violating a previously issued protective order. He was held for 24 hours pending a court hearing.

In Arad County, two unrelated incidents were recorded on 18 July. A 56‑year‑old man threw a mobile phone at his wife, causing injuries that required hospital treatment; a provisional protective order was issued and he was detained for 24 hours. On the same day a 48‑year‑old man struck another man with a beer bottle in front of a shop; he also received a protective order and a 24‑hour detention. All three counties are actively enforcing protective‑order provisions to prevent further domestic‑violence incidents.
