Romanian Police Launch Major Training Programs for Border and Local Forces
The Romanian government has approved project BV15A_04, titled “Development of Essential Tactical Competences for Border Police Personnel,” to enhance the operational capabilities of the Romanian Border Police. The two‑year programme, running from July 2026 to July 2028, will train about 300 officers in land, maritime and air border operations, covering close‑quarters battle, vessel boarding, water rescue and aircraft passenger extraction. The total budget is 2.193 million lei, with 75 % provided as non‑repayable EU funding under the National Programme for Border Management and Visas.
Separately, the Botoșani County Police Inspectorate conducts regular professional‑training sessions, including daytime and nighttime shooting drills and tactical exercises. These are overseen by the Professional Training Office and follow strict legal protocols for firearm use, with only one recorded incident of weapon deployment in early 2026. The training aims to improve response to emergencies and ensure safe, lawful use of force.
