Romanian police seize kilogram of cocaine and 100 g of cannabis at Constanța sites
On 16 June 2026 prosecutors of the Constanța Territorial Service of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism ordered the detention of a 38‑year‑old suspect caught in flagrante delicto selling one kilogram of cocaine in the seaside resort of Mamaia. The investigation revealed prior possession of additional cocaine in May 2026 and led to search warrants in Cluj and Constanța counties, where further evidence was seized. The suspect was referred to a judge for a 30‑day preventive arrest.
A separate case on 15 June 2026 involved a 48‑year‑old Ukrainian citizen who was detected by border police at Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport attempting to bring over 100 grams of cannabis from the United States into Romania. The same prosecutorial office proposed a 30‑day preventive arrest for this individual. Both operations were coordinated by DIICOT, the Constanța Organized Crime Brigade, and the mobile gendarmerie units of Constanța and Cluj‑Napoca.
