Romanian police seize undocumented timber at Constanța port and fine drivers for illegal transport
Police and the Bucharest Forest Guard intercepted a truck convoy at Constanța South port carrying 44 cubic metres of fir timber valued at about 32,000 lei. The load, destined for a company in Harghita, lacked any documents proving legal provenance. Authorities seized the timber and opened a criminal case under the Forestry Code for transport without a legal permit.
In a separate inspection on 22 June, rural police from Buzoești stopped a utility vehicle on county road 504 in Izvoru. The driver, a 27‑year‑old from Berevoești, was transporting wood without the required GPS monitoring through the SUMAL 2.0 system. He received a fine of 2,000 lei for the violation.
