AUR remains Romania’s leading party as polls show rising support for early elections

A new poll conducted by the Agenția de Rating Politic between 30 June and 3 July 2026 shows Romania’s political landscape still dominated by the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR). The party holds the highest voting intention at 36.4 %, keeping its lead despite a slight dip from earlier figures. The National Liberal Party (PNL) rises to second place with 22.4 % of respondents, while the Social Democratic Party (PSD) registers 17.9 % and USR 10.5 %. Smaller formations such as UDMR, SOS România and POT fall below the 5 % parliamentary threshold.

In terms of personal trust, AUR leader George Simion tops the list with 35 % confidence, followed by interim prime minister Ilie Bolojan at 29.5 %, President Nicușor Dan at 24.2 %, USR head Dominic Fritz at 20.1 % and vice‑premier Oana Gheorghiu at 17.7 %. The crisis that began two months ago remains unresolved; 33.2 % of voters see early parliamentary elections as the best way to break the deadlock, while 11.4 % favour rebuilding the current PSD‑PNL‑USR‑UDMR coalition and 11.3 % prefer a technocratic cabinet. When asked who bears responsibility for the prolonged crisis, 21.7 % point to PSD and a similar share (21.4 %) hold all parties equally accountable.
