Romanian President Nicușor Dan Engages in Poland‑Led Eastern European Summit and Honors Former Polish President

Romanian President Nicușor Dan awarded the former head of state of Poland the National Order “Star of Romania” (Grand Cross), stating that the decoration reflects the solidarity and democratic struggle shared by generations of Romanians who followed Radio Free Europe and Voice of America.

Dan is also set to attend a summit in Jurata, Poland, hosted by Polish President Karol Nawrocki and attended by the presidents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The meeting will discuss strengthening European security in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine, instability in the Middle East and broader geopolitical shifts. Dan will reaffirm Romania’s commitment to NATO’s Eastern flank, including deterrence, hybrid‑and‑cyber defence, dual‑use infrastructure and energy security, and will call the Supreme Council of National Defence on 29 June to review the agenda.
