Romanian President Nicușor Dan joins France's National Day parade and Ukraine coalition summit in Paris

Romanian President Nicușor Dan travelled to Paris at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron to take part in the National Day of France celebrations. He attended the military parade on the Champs‑Élysées, where a contingent of 22 soldiers from the 30th Guard Brigade “Mihai Viteazul” represented Romania.

During the same visit Dan participated in the summit of the “Coalition of the Will” (Coaliția de Voință), a diplomatic format coordinated by France and the United Kingdom that now includes 35‑37 European states. The coalition discusses enhanced security guarantees for Ukraine, anti‑aircraft defence systems and preparations for post‑conflict peace arrangements. Moldovan President Maia Sandu attended the summit for the first time, underscoring Moldova’s support for Ukrainian defence while maintaining its constitutional neutrality.

The meeting, held on 13‑14 July 2026, also gathered leaders from NATO, the European Union and other partner nations to coordinate further assistance to Ukraine and to reinforce regional security on the Eastern flank of NATO.
