Romanian regulators impose multi‑million lei fines on businesses
The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) carried out temporary inspections on the Romanian seaside between 27 July and 2 August, issuing 232 fines totalling over 1.44 million lei to operators and handing out 194 warnings after checking products worth more than 410 000 lei.
The Competition Council fined Agrana Sales & Marketing GmbH, Agrana România SRL and Lucsor Impex SRL a combined 52.09 million lei (about 10.22 million EUR) for colluding to fix sugar prices on the Romanian market. Agrana’s penalty was 42.18 million lei, while Lucsor Impex received 9.91 million lei. An investigation into Pfeifer & Langen Romania SRL was closed due to insufficient evidence.
