Romanian rescue teams assist Ukrainian beach athlete and a sailor in separate emergencies

On 14 July 2026, lifeguards on Eforie beach in Romania responded within seconds to a 17‑year‑old Ukrainian footballer who suffered an epileptic seizure. The rescuers provided first aid, called an ambulance and the athlete was transported to hospital.

The next day, 15 July 2026, the Romanian Maritime Rescue Service dispatched the SAR vessel Artemis after a medical alert from the Bahamas‑flagged ship JSD 6000, located about 35 nm south of Constanța. The crew member with health issues was transferred to the SAR vessel, then handed over to local ambulance services in Constanța port.
