Romanian residents protest heavy vehicle traffic and noise

Residents in several Romanian cities are reporting significant disturbances caused by increased transit traffic and heavy vehicles in residential areas.

In Cluj-Napoca, inhabitants of the Someșeni neighborhood report that traffic has surged on Căpitan Grigore Ignat and Ion Ionescu de la Brad streets following changes to traffic flow on Barc I street. Residents claim vehicles are traveling at speeds between 70 and 100 km/h in a 30 km/h zone, and are calling for speed limiters and increased patrols. Additionally, residents on Războieni street near the former Mucart factory report that heavy truck traffic is causing noise, water pipe bursts, and damage to property fences.

In Sibiu, residents of Strada Podului have issued an open letter to local authorities regarding heavy tonnage trucks. They report that vibrations from large vehicles passing over speed bumps are causing cracks in nearby buildings. The residents have requested inspections of truck routes and weight restrictions, specifically mentioning vehicles associated with companies such as Total NSA and Terra.
