Romanian road authority CNAIR warns drivers about illegal toll‑vignette sites charging 30% more
The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) in Romania announced that two unauthorised websites – rovinietadigitala.ro and tollvignettes.com – are selling the 12‑month road‑use vignette (rovinieta) at approximately 30 % higher prices than the official rate. The official price for a passenger car in May was 254.02 lei, while the unauthorised portals charge about 330 lei.
CNAIR clarified that the two sites are owned by the Dutch firm Roadwise Group B.V. and are not licensed to collect the toll fee. The agency urged motorists to purchase the vignette only through its official portal (erovinieta.ro) or authorised distributors, stressing that it bears no responsibility for purchases made on unofficial sites. The warning is part of a broader effort to curb fraudulent online sales that impose extra “registration” fees on drivers.
