Romanian schools honor students with awards at year‑end ceremonies

In the town of Titu, pupils from the Iancu C. Vissarion Theoretical High School were recognized for academic excellence at two end‑of‑year award ceremonies. Seven national olympiad participants each received a cash prize of 2,000 lei from local entrepreneurs, while the top three class promotion leaders and 37 students with a perfect 10 average were given 200‑lei vouchers from the DIALAR bookstore. The events were supported by the town mayor, Laurențiu Costache, and parent‑representative Eugen Răceanu, highlighting community investment in education.

Separately, educators from Constanța discussed the purpose of school‑wide award ceremonies. History teacher Adriana Grozavu, primary teachers Mihaela Riciu, Simona Covrig and Valentina Taras, all members of the SuperTeach association, argued that such events should celebrate each child’s personal growth rather than only top academic achievers. They propose individualized diplomas, class‑level celebrations, and recognition of qualities such as perseverance, teamwork and creativity, aiming to nurture confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
