Romanian Senate adopts new mandatory maneuvers for driving exams

The Romanian Senate has adopted a legislative project that modifies the practical examination process for obtaining a Category B driving license. While an initial proposal sought to reintroduce a dedicated polygon-based exam following driving school, senators removed that specific requirement.

In its place, the project introduces four mandatory maneuvers that must be performed during the driving test on public roads: reversing, turning, parking, and stopping. Currently, examiners have the discretion to choose which maneuvers to test, but the new rules would make these four actions compulsory for every candidate. The specific execution methods and evaluation criteria are to be established later by an order from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Some experts have expressed skepticism regarding the project, noting potential difficulties in the implementation of application norms once the law is passed.
