Romanian theatre features upcoming performances and festival book launches

The Romanian cultural scene features several notable events, including theatrical performances in Bucharest and Craiova and book launches at the 36th National Theatre Festival (FNT).

On November 2, two major productions will be staged. In Bucharest, the National Theatre (TNB) will host ‘Dragi părinți’, a comedy directed by Toma Dănilă featuring Carmen Tănase and Marius Manole. In Craiova, the National Theatre ‘Marin Sorescu’ will present ‘Tache, Ianke și Cadâr’, directed by and starring Horațiu Mălăele alongside Răzvan Vasilescu and Mihai Constantin. This interwar comedy explores themes of identity and faith through the stories of three merchants.

Additionally, the National Theatre Festival hosted a marathon of book launches. Among the featured works is ‘Artistul, informatorul și Securitatea. Raport contra pașaport’ by Iulia Popovici. The book examines the historical involvement of artists as informants for the Securitate, analyzing how the secret police recruited individuals and the impact these roles had on their lives and biographies.
