Romanian toddler Lucas rescued alive after 15‑hour search in Swedish swamp

On Sunday a 2‑year‑old Romanian boy named Lucas, staying with his family in Nyåker, northern Sweden, disappeared from the house. The disappearance triggered a large‑scale search that involved police, the Swedish army, rescue crews, volunteers, drones, dogs and a helicopter.

After roughly 15 hours a Swedish soldier located the child in a swamp. He was wet and suffered mild hypothermia but had no serious injuries. Lucas was taken to a hospital in Umeå for observation. His family thanked rescuers and expressed deep relief.
