Romanian towns host a series of August cultural festivals

The Cultural Center in Sighetu Marmației is hosting a packed August program that includes the International Folklore Festival “MARA” (third edition) on August 1, a Crafts Fair, medieval displays, folk‑song contests, the International Film Festival MMIFF 2026, the folk‑music contest “Floare de colț” and the Sighet International Music Summer master‑class featuring ten young pianists from six countries.

Meanwhile, the International Music and Traditional Dance Festival in Râmnicu Sărat continues with an evening “Parade of Costumes” followed by performances by ensembles from South Korea, Latvia, the United States, Spain and Romania. Earlier shows featured groups from Slovakia, Serbia and Cyprus, alongside Romanian folk ensembles, highlighting intercultural dialogue through music, dance and traditional dress.
