Romanian towns of Șimian and Galați begin major public renovation projects

In the commune of Șimian, the town hall is undergoing a 2.7 million‑lei energy‑efficiency modernization funded by the Administration of the Environmental Fund, covering roof replacement, thermal insulation of exterior walls, a new building envelope and photovoltaic panels that will supply power to HVAC units. The works began in early 2026 and aim to reduce heating and cooling costs and cut carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, the city of Galați has signed the start‑order for a 226 million‑lei revitalization of the Danube promenade. The 3.5‑kilometre waterfront will be upgraded with landscaped areas, cycling and running paths, playgrounds, a skate park, pet zones, belvederes, an ornamental fountain and a deltaic‑plant zone, as well as upgraded lighting, pedestrian infrastructure and utility networks. The 24‑month contract was awarded to an association led by Tancrad SRL.
