Romanian Transport Minister Radu Miruță reports destruction of five explosive marine drones near Constanța

Transport Minister Radu Miruță said that five marine drones were intercepted and destroyed in the Black Sea off Constanța, noting that some of the drones carried explosives while others were empty. He clarified that the Romanian Army does not have peacetime responsibility for port security but will act when asked by state authorities, and he urged the Navy and Land Forces to take any necessary measures.

Miruță added that similar incidents had occurred previously – four drone fragments were found before the recent explosion and one afterwards. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed that on 4 June 2026 it lost control of four Sargan‑3000 unmanned surface vessels heading toward the eastern Black Sea, informing Romanian officials about the threat roughly 35 minutes before one drone detonated near Constanța.
