Romanian Transylvania Highway Segment Near Zimbor Reaches 98% Completion
Construction on the Transylvania Highway segment between Nădășelu and Zimbor in Salaj County has reached a physical completion level of 98%. The 30.6‑kilometre stretch is being built by Romanian contractor UMB Spedition, which has deployed over 500 workers and around 240 pieces of equipment. The contract, valued at 1.625 billion lei, is fully financed under the Transport Programme 2021‑2027.
Final works include laying the last asphalt layer, installing safety barriers, lighting and intelligent transport systems. Once the remaining viaducts and connections are finished, the route will provide a continuous motorway of about 155 kilometres from the Salaj gateway to Târgu Mureș, easing traffic and stimulating regional investment.
