Romanian USR leader Dominic Fritz urges joining a minority government
USR president Dominic Fritz posted a midnight Facebook message after the Veștea cabinet failed to secure the 233‑vote parliamentary majority, receiving only 189 votes. Fritz said his party was prepared to enter a minority government, criticizing the ruling coalition’s approach and calling for transparent, no‑secret consultations to deliver reforms, clean‑up and a better life for Romanians.
Later, Fritz told Euronews that his delegation’s meeting with President Nicușor Dan at Cotroceni was brief—about 15‑20 minutes—and conducted in a “sobră” (serious) atmosphere. He emphasized that no one was “dancing on the table,” underscoring the gravity of the political crisis and reaffirming USR’s willingness to be part of a solution that benefits Romania.
