Romanian water utility RAJA extends emergency response as flood alerts hit multiple basins
RAJA has prolonged the activation of its Emergency Command for Situations of Urgency until 16:00 on 6 July 2026. The command, staffed by 27 intervention teams equipped with special vehicles, monitors water‑supply and sewage systems and responds to emergencies caused by adverse weather. Twelve teams operate in Constanța and the remaining 15 serve other locations within RAJA’s service area. Residents are urged to report any service disruptions to the RAJA dispatch centre.
Simultaneously, the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management issued yellow and orange flood codes for 13 river basins across Romania. The orange code, in effect from 12:00 UTC 3 July to 09:00 UTC 4 July, covers rivers such as Teleorman, Negru and Putna. A yellow code applies until Saturday noon to numerous rivers and basins, including Vișeu, Someș, Mureș, Arieș, Târnava, Olt, Ialomița and many others, affecting a wide range of counties.
