A0 Nord highway Lot 3 near 90% completion, CNAIR urges faster work

The national road authority (CNAIR) reports that the physical work on Lot 3 of the A0 Nord beltway – the 8.5 km section between Afumaţi and Pantelimon – has reached almost 90 % but needs acceleration to meet the planned autumn deadline. The Chinese contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, has 160 workers and 100 machines on site, a level deemed insufficient by CNAIR.

Key sections: • Passage on DN 3 (110 m) – about 60 % complete, with concrete formwork and reinforcement ongoing. • Passage over DN 2 (336 m) – 99.3 % complete, ITS and lighting systems being installed and wear‑layer placed. • A0‑DN 2 junction – roughly 90 % finished, metal parapets and wear‑layer being added. • Railway overpass (București‑Constanţa) (471 m) – about 94 % complete, with metal parapets and back‑fill works.

Overall, about 6.5 km of the base and binder layers have been laid and 3.5 km of wear‑layer applied. The contract value is 397.99 million lei (VAT‑free), financed by the 2021‑2027 Transport Programme. CNAIR director Cristian Pistol stressed on Facebook: “Stadiul fizic se apropie de 90 %, dar este nevoie de accelerarea ritmului!” and reiterated that the agency continuously monitors progress to ensure the schedule is met.
