Moldova lifts fuel tariffs as Middle East tension spikes oil prices
Moldova’s energy regulator ANRE announced higher gasoline and diesel tariffs in mid‑July. Prices rose by up to 0.39 lei per litre – gasoline to 28.38 lei and diesel to 26.67 lei – after the agency recorded a lift in international oil quotations.
The increase follows renewed geopolitical tension in the Middle East, notably Iran‑US clashes that threatened traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. ANRE cited rising Brent and Platts benchmarks as the driver of the higher domestic fuel costs, which have already pushed diesel up by roughly 1.74 lei since the start of July.
