Romania's BT Pay and Moldova's digital card broaden online banking

Banca Transilvania has launched BT Pay, a service that lets Romanians living abroad open a current account entirely online in 7‑10 minutes. The free account can be held in lei, euros or dollars, includes a virtual card that works instantly, and a physical card is delivered without charge to Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and Moldova. Users can manage savings, deposits, bill payments and foreign‑exchange directly in the app, with no commissions on transfers or card payments.

In Moldova, Moldindconbank introduced a digital card that can be created through its MICB Mobile Banking app. The card is marketed as a quick, hassle‑free solution for online shopping, urgent transfers and everyday payments, and is available to customers without the need to visit a branch.

Both initiatives aim to simplify banking for diaspora and domestic clients by removing the need for in‑person visits and offering multi‑currency functionality through mobile platforms.
