Romania's Bucharest-Ilfov OOH market sees digital billboard surge
Digital billboards are competing fiercely for consumer attention in Romania, offering dynamic visual content that can be updated in real time. Their movement, brightness and strategic placement are shown to boost brand recall and engagement compared with static panels.
After a shift of advertising budgets to online media, out‑of‑home (OOH) formats are rebounding, especially in the Bucharest‑Ilfov region, which houses over 2.2 million residents and handles massive daily traffic. In 2025 the metro system moved about 153 million passengers and Henri Coandă Airport served more than 17 million travelers, creating repeated exposure opportunities for brands.
Advertisers now favour measurable, flexible solutions: classic large panels on high‑traffic arteries, LED and DOOH screens that rotate messages by hour, mesh facades on central buildings, and ads on buses, trams and metros. Campaign briefs stress three priorities – measurability, creative flexibility and local relevance – guiding placement decisions based on traffic data and commercial objectives.
