Romania's CNAS unveils new digital platform for online appointments and hospital data

The National Health Insurance House (CNAS) in Romania announced that its new digital platform will launch this autumn, allowing patients to schedule specialist appointments directly online, access a secure personal medical dossier, view prescriptions and referrals, and see reimbursement histories. CNAS President Horațiu Moldovan said the online‑appointment module is "the most useful for patients" and highlighted the platform’s ability to display which contracted doctors have available slots.

Starting 17 July, CNAS also released an application that provides the public with detailed information on every public hospital in the country. Users can select a county to see each hospital’s bed count, occupancy rate, number of patients treated in 2025, staff levels, case complexity and average length of stay, and compare similar units across regions. Moldovan called this a "first clear picture" of the hospital system, intended to boost transparency and resource use.

Both tools aim to reduce bureaucratic delays, improve patient access to care, and increase openness in Romania’s health‑care system.
