Romania's Health Ministry unlocks 7,621 hospital jobs while ambulance fleet gets new vehicles

The Romanian Ministry of Health has drafted a memorandum to release 7,621 vacant positions in public health units, including 910 doctors, 955 nurses, 261 auxiliary staff, 436 other qualified medical workers and 59 research posts. The measure aims to reinforce hospital teams, ease pressure on existing staff and preserve continuous patient care, according to interim minister Cseke Attila. The proposal is based on unit requests and an analysis of real staffing needs, emphasizing responsible public‑resource management.

In the commune of Corbu (Constanța County), authorities announced a public competition for a full‑time community medical assistant as part of a project to improve integrated rural services for vulnerable residents. Applications close on 9 July, with selection steps outlined through late July.

Separately, the Bacău Ambulance Service has begun replacing its aging fleet through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, receiving 18 new ambulances (three more pending) equipped with automatic chest‑compression devices. Despite the modernised fleet, the service still faces a personnel shortage and is seeking approval to increase staff, including doctors, nurses and drivers, as highlighted by director Aura Creţu.
