Romania's media market hits €838 million while regional GDP per‑capita gaps widen
The Romanian media market recorded a net value of about €838 million in 2025, up 5.4 % from the previous year, according to the Media Fact Book 2026. The sector’s growth was driven by digital advertising, which reached €327 million (+10 %), while TV generated €415 million, out‑of‑home €50 million and radio €40 million. Analysts noted that artificial intelligence, audience fragmentation and the increasing value of consumer attention are reshaping media planning and brand communication.
A separate economic assessment shows stark regional disparities in Romania’s GDP per capita for 2026. Bucharest leads with €59 600 per inhabitant, followed by Cluj (€30 639) and Timiș (€25 836). At the opposite end, the five poorest counties—Vaslui, Botoșani, Giurgiu, Călărași and Suceava—range from €9 320 to €11 502. Although poorer counties are projected to grow faster in percentage terms, the absolute income gap between regions such as Bucharest and Vaslui is expected to widen.
