Romania's National Pension House clarifies pension collection and extra‑income rules

The National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) explained that when a pensioner is not at home on the day the mail delivers the payment notice, the postman leaves a slip. The pension can then be collected at the local post office within two working days after the month's last payment day; after that, the money is returned to the territorial pension house and the beneficiary must request a re‑order.

For payments made to a bank account or card, the uncollected information slip is kept at the post office until the last working day of the month and archived for 24 months at the County Post Office. Beneficiaries may request its re‑delivery after this period.

A separate CNPP guideline allows pensioners who earned supplemental income before April 2001—such as bonuses, the 13th salary, overtime, night‑shift or hazardous‑work allowances—to have those amounts valued and potentially added to their pension, provided they submit appropriate employer‑issued documents. There is no deadline for submitting these documents, and any approved increase takes effect from the first day of the month following the application.
