Romanian premier Ilie Bolojan accused of deal with AUR leader George Simion over early elections
PSD leaders, including Sorin Grindeanu and Daniel Zamfir, claim former premier Ilie Bolojan negotiated with AUR chief George Simion to keep the government in office and to trigger early elections that would favour both parties. AUR’s deputy Dan Dungaciu rejected the accusations, asserting the party acts only on principles and is ready to negotiate early elections with any party. AUR deputy Petrișor Peiu accused President Nicușor Dan of blocking AUR from coalition talks, saying the exclusion prolongs the political crisis and harms the economy. Former minister Elena Udrea released 2012 photos showing Bolojan’s earlier affiliation with the former USL coalition, suggesting an attempt to rewrite his political history. The dispute underscores Romania’s ongoing parliamentary deadlock and the push for snap elections.
