Romania's Rabla Auto 2026 program sees rapid uptake, motorcycle funds exhausted
The Rabla Auto 2026 subsidy scheme opened on 20 July 2026 at 10:00, allowing Romanian citizens to apply for low‑emission cars and motorcycles. In the first hour, 11,289 applications were submitted, including 6,452 for new internal‑combustion vehicles, 3,544 for plug‑in hybrid, electric or hydrogen‑fuel cars, and 1,293 for motorcycles.
The motorcycle budget of 15 million lei was completely depleted in just nine minutes, while roughly half of the 165 million‑lei car budget remained available after the first hour. The program aims to promote cleaner mobility and improve air quality, a goal highlighted by Florin Bănică, president of the Administration of the Environmental Fund, who said the scheme “continues to meet citizens’ needs and supports sustainable mobility.”
Applications for the remaining vehicle categories will stay open until 31 December 2026, but the program may close earlier if allocated funds run out.
