Romania's Rabla Auto Program Approves Over 9,700 Eco‑Tags Funding 124 million lei
The Administration of the Environmental Fund (AFM) announced that 9,743 eco‑tags worth 124.208 million lei have been approved for individuals under the Rabla Auto 2026 program. The scheme aims to modernise Romania’s vehicle fleet and promote low‑emission mobility, offering financial support to citizens who replace polluting cars with cleaner alternatives.
Applicants must destroy and deregister the old vehicle within 60 days of receiving the “beneficiary approved for funding” status and upload the required documents to the AFM online system. Budgets for electric motorcycles, plug‑in hybrid, fully electric and hydrogen‑fuel‑cell vehicles have been exhausted, while funding for thermal‑engine and hybrid vehicles remains open with about 35.3 million lei still available. Registrations are accepted until 31 December 2026, 23:59, or until the allocated budget is depleted.
AFM President Florin Bănică highlighted that the approved eco‑tags represent a step forward in modernising the auto park and improving air quality.
