Romania's Rabla Motorcycle Subsidy Exhausted in Minutes, Importers Seek Fund Reallocation

The 2026 Rabla program session for motorcycle purchases was opened on 20 July. The 15 million‑lei budget allocated to motorcycles was depleted in just nine minutes after 1,293 applications were submitted, while the overall program recorded more than 11,000 applications across all vehicle categories.

The Association of Importers and Distributors of Motorcycles and Scooters (AIDMM) has asked the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests and the Administration of the Environmental Fund to transfer 15 million lei from the line reserved for thermal and hybrid cars to the motorcycle line. The association argues the request is a correction of the allocation, not an increase in total funding. AIDMM representative Andrei Sebastian Ivan noted the association warned on 10 July that the motorcycle budget would be exhausted immediately and said, “We are not asking for extra money – we are asking for a reallocation where demand exists and supply does not.”

Similar rapid exhaustion occurred in 2025, when motorcycle funds ran out in about 13 minutes and authorities later reallocated remaining car‑line funds to the motorcycle category.
