Romania's retail sector expands with new BIPA and Primark stores

Austrian drugstore chain BIPA is opening its fifth Romanian outlet in Bucharest’s Berceni neighbourhood, Sector 4, near Emil Racoviță street. The store will occupy the ground floor of a new residential complex and will stock more than 12,000 items across beauty, personal care, health and household categories.

Irish fast‑fashion retailer Primark has opened its sixth Romanian shop in Shopping City Sibiu, covering over 2,300 sq m on a single level. The €8 million investment created more than 100 local jobs. Primark said it plans additional stores in Iași, Bacău and a third Bucharest location by 2026‑27, bringing its Romanian network to nine stores.

Both openings underline the continued growth of foreign‑owned retail in Romania, expanding consumer choice and generating employment.
