Romania's road vignette and toll system to experience temporary outage

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) announced that, due to technical optimisation of the General Directorate of Driving Licences and Registrations' infrastructure, the electronic system for issuing road vignettes (rovinieta) and tolls (SIEGMCR) will operate intermittently. The affected period runs from 17:00 on 22 May 2026 until 00:30 on 23 May 2026.

During this window drivers may encounter delays or temporary unavailability when trying to purchase a vignette or process toll payments online. CNAIR advises motorists to buy their vignette in advance and reminds them that a vignette can be purchased up to 24:00 on the day of travel, and tolls can be paid by 24:00 on the following day without penalty.

The maintenance is part of routine technical optimisation and does not affect the legal deadlines for payment, but it may cause brief service disruptions for electronic users across Romania’s national road, express road and highway network.
