Rome and Lazio face major transport disruptions
Major infrastructure works and maintenance are causing significant disruptions to road and rail transport in Rome and the Lazio region.
On the A24 motorway, the urban section between the Tangenziale Est junction and the Portonaccio exit is closed for barrier redevelopment through August 28. This closure affects access to Rome from L'Aquila. Additionally, road closures have been reported on Via Appia Antica due to hazardous trees and in Via Farini for tram line maintenance.
Rail services are heavily impacted. Until August 31, train circulation between Roma Tiburtina and Roma Ostiense is suspended to facilitate the construction of the Pigneto station. This affects the FL1 (Orte, Fiumicino Airport) and FL3 (Roma, Cesano, Viterbo) lines. On the regional Roma-Viterbo line, extraordinary maintenance is being conducted, with replacement buses operating between Vianello and Viterbo until September 7. In the Lazio region, heavy traffic has also been noted between Sperlonga and Formia.
