Rome associations protest after seven explosions in eastern suburbs
A series of at least seven explosions targeting commercial activities and public venues has occurred over the last two months in the eastern suburbs of Rome, specifically in the Casilina, Don Bosco, Centocelle, and San Basilio areas.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that these attacks are linked to a struggle for territorial control and drug trafficking hubs, potentially following recent judicial investigations that decapitated certain criminal leaderships. While the exact motives and perpetrators remain under investigation, local associations fear the bombings are being used as a language of intimidation to spread fear throughout the neighborhoods.
In response, the association Libera Roma, alongside student groups and scouts, has organized a public demonstration scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at 18:00 in Piazza Malatesta. Organizers are calling for increased state presence, better protection for local merchants, and greater investment in social infrastructure such as schools and healthcare to counter organized crime influence.
