Rome Half Marathon reaches record 40,000 participants
The third edition of the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon by Brooks has reached a record 40,000 participants. The event, scheduled for Sunday, October 18, in Rome, saw registrations close as early as July, representing a 68% increase compared to the previous year.
The demographic profile of the race shows significant shifts, with women making up 50% of the total participants and 58% of runners aged between 18 and 34. The event also maintains a strong international presence, with 78% of participants coming from abroad, including notable increases from Germany, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
A new route feature includes a starting line near the Aurelian Walls at the arches of via di Porta Ardeatina, while the finish line remains at via degli Annibaldi in front of the Colosseum. Stefano Mei, president of the Italian Athletics Federation, noted that the event has become a benchmark for both Italian and international running.
