Overview

Organizers of the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon by Brooks have announced details for the 2026 edition, scheduled for October 18. The event has achieved the Elite Label World Athletics certification, marking a significant milestone in international running standards.

The race will feature a new course starting at the Aurelian Walls near the arches of Porta Ardeatina. The 21.97-kilometer route will pass through Rome’s historic center, including landmarks such as the Pyramid, Circo Massimo, and Tiberina Island, before finishing at Via degli Annibaldi with views of the Colosseum.

The event is expected to attract 40,000 participants, with approximately 80 percent traveling from abroad. Alessandro Onorato, head of the Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism, and Fashion, described the course as allowing runners to compete in an ‘open-air museum.’ Additionally, the event’s Charity Program has raised more than 70,000 euros for various projects.
