Rome hosts Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum on regional security
The Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum concluded in Rome after four days of discussions focused on water security within the Mediterranean region. Held at the La Nuvola Congress Center, the event drew over 5,000 participants and featured approximately 700 speakers across more than 100 panels, conferences, and workshops.
Promoted by the One Water Italian Committee in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean and the Mediterranean Water Institute of Marseille, the forum brought together government representatives, international organizations, businesses, water service managers, researchers, and civil society. Key themes included territorial resilience, international cooperation, and the critical need for investment in robust water infrastructure.
A significant portion of the event focused on the role of the private sector. Through the CEO Water Summit, companies shared strategies for reducing, reusing, and increasing the efficiency of water consumption. The discussions highlighted that water resources are increasingly vital not only for environmental stability but also for economic, industrial, and security considerations.
