Rome Mayor Gualtieri reshuffles key administrative leadership

Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri has implemented a significant administrative reshuffle, appointing four new directors to oversee critical sectors: Public Works, Environmental Protection, Participation, and Peripheries. The changes involve Roberto Botta, Mauro Uniformi, Angelo Ottavianelli, and Antonio Lanza.

Fabrizio Santori, the Lega group leader in the Rome Assembly, has criticized the move as a political maneuver ahead of upcoming elections. Santori argued that the sudden need for a ‘turnaround’ after nearly five years of administration serves as a certification of previous failures. He specifically highlighted concerns regarding the management of green spaces, the state of the city's peripheries, and delays in public works.

Additionally, the opposition has raised questions regarding the municipal budget, specifically citing 41 million euros allocated to the Mayor's Cabinet. Santori questioned the cost and duration of these new appointments, suggesting that such moves at the end of a term may unfairly impact the city's resources and administrative continuity.
