Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri has undertaken significant administrative and strategic shifts for the city. Initially, the Mayor implemented a leadership reshuffle, appointing four new directors to manage public works, environmental protection, participation, and peripheries. This move faced criticism from opposition leaders, such as Fabrizio Santori of the Lega group, who characterized the changes as a political maneuver and questioned the allocation of 41 million euros to the Mayor’s Cabinet.

Following these administrative changes, Gualtieri outlined a broader long-term vision for Rome’s urban transformation. This strategy emphasizes infrastructure modernization, including the expansion of Metro C, the development of a waste-to-energy plant, and the revitalization of the Tiber River and Ostia. The administration is also prioritizing digital transition through significant investments and preparing for the upcoming Jubilee. Gualtieri noted that while the high volume of construction projects has caused public inconvenience, citizen perception has begun to shift positively.
