Rome protest planned by COVID-19 victims' families
Families of COVID-19 victims have announced a national mobilization in Rome scheduled for September 14. Organized by the committees ‘L’altra verità’ and the ‘Comitato nazionale familiari delle vittime covid’, the event aims to demand answers from institutions regarding the pandemic.
A delegation will meet with the parliamentary inquiry commission at Palazzo San Macuto, while a demonstration is planned for Piazza Capranica. The organizers intend for the protest to serve as an act of memory, featuring a flash mob using black shrouds and photographs to symbolize the loss of dignity experienced by many during the pandemic.
A central grievance for the families is the right to visual recognition of the deceased, protesting the restrictive practices used during the height of the crisis that prevented families from accompanying loved ones or properly viewing remains.
