Italian COVID-19 victims' families protest

Overview

Families of COVID-19 victims organized a national mobilization in Rome for mid-September 2026. Led by committees such as ‘L’altra verità’ and the ‘Comitato nazionale familiari delle vittime covid’, the demonstration sought to demand answers from institutions via a meeting with the parliamentary inquiry commission.

The organizers planned a protest in Piazza Capranica featuring a flash mob with black shrouds and photographs to symbolize the loss of dignity during the pandemic. A primary grievance cited by the families was the lack of visual recognition of the deceased due to restrictive practices implemented during the height of the crisis.
