Spanish matador Román Collado was declared the San Isidro festival’s top torero by the Real Casino de Madrid and the Union of Subscribers and Fans of Las Ventas (UAATM) after his performances on 10 May and 6 June at the Las Ventas bullring. He cut two ears off the bull ‘Gallarete’, number 7, and left the arena through the main gate.

The awards ceremony also recognised Alejandro Talavante for the best faena, Ángel Otero for the best pair of banderillas, Julio Méndez as best novillero, and Iván García as best torero of silver. The fair recorded a historic attendance of 611,818 spectators, the highest in a decade.

Additional honors included best bull to ‘Cantaor’, special mentions for several ganaderías, and a recognition for the best rejoneo performance by Diego Ventura.
