Ron Duguay battles Stage 4 colon cancer

Former NHL star Ron Duguay is currently battling Stage 4 colon cancer. Duguay, a former New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings player, was diagnosed in December 2024. His family has kept the diagnosis private until recently, during which time he has undergone surgeries, including procedures involving his colon and liver.

His daughter, Shay Thomas, has requested prayers and support from the public via social media as the family navigates his health challenges. Thomas noted that Duguay is receiving treatment at City of Hope in Southern California.

Sarah Palin, Duguay’s partner, has been publicly supportive, sharing updates and photos from his hospital room. Thomas described Palin as a “pillar of stability” and a significant source of support for the entire family during his treatment journey.
